Universal Sequencing Technology (UST) is an innovative US biotechnology company founded in 2015 with headquarters in San Diego, California. UST is dedicated to the development and commercialization of disruptive next-generation sequencing (NGS) solutions and products.

Since inception, UST has developed multiple cutting-edge NGS technologies, which includes TELL-Seq™ linked read library preparation technology, a now commercially available proven technology that enables short-read NGS platforms, such as Illumina sequencers, to produce super long read results (20kb to 200kb or longer).  An Illumina sequencing ready library can be prepared in 3 hours in a PCR tube, simple, fast and cost effective.  TELL-Seq library prep does not require any special lab equipment and is automation friendly. TELL-Seq linked read library can help short read NGS users to do many previously unachievable long read applications, such as de novo sequencing, microbial genome assembly, metagenomics, human genome phasing (whole genome and target), structural variation detection, gene editing QC, PGT (preimplantation genetic tests) and newborn screening, etc.

TELL-Seq results are proven to be accurate and require very little DNA input (0.1 – 0.5 ng or less for bacteria and targeted gene panels, 3 – 5 ng for human genome and complex metagenomic samples).  Recent development at UST on TELL-Seq allows pooling of up to 384 microbial isolate or microbiome samples per lane/run to take advantage of the low-cost sequencing provided by high throughput sequencing platforms such as Illumina’s NextSeq2000, NovaSeq6000, NovaSeqX and Element’s Aviti.  With a co-marketing and co-development relationship signed with Illumina, the TELL-Seq technology is a valuable tool for genomics research and proven to be the best tool for microbiome analysis.
